I would rather have my son be Donald Glover than the weeknd who basically telling us he is going to OD on almost every song. I like both artist, but what Donald has done is absolutely amazing. His family was from Atlanta but exposed him a lot through that world that isn't typically defined as black. I don't think he has a probably relating with all aspects of "blackness" he just can't relate to everything. He had lot's of white foster family members. Even if you don't enjoy his music, why would you not as a black man want to deny someone who has achieved so much? Because he doesn't fit some imagine you are akin to?

Because there's "the hood" and there's "the projects". Both are Black but they aren't always the same thing in every instance.

I was a little lost at the part where the guy seems to be complaining that Childish Gambino is shunned by white critics for basically being an actor turned rapper? I don't see that at all.
