Someone in the middle class can be devastated in a divorce. You lose your home and then live with your parents or a shytty studio apartment.

Yeah a devastating situation could happen, but it's not prevalent nor is it likely. Most poor or working class marriages consist of couples who make around the same amount, and in those situations divorce law doesn't provide the high degree of leverage to women the coli claims it does.

The financial based fear of divorce makes sense to men who:

• Make substantially more than their wives.
• Are the sole breadwinners.
• Are rich enough to the point where maintaining their wives lifestyle will be taken into ample consideration by the courts.

i almost choked laughing, yall too early with the jokes. but also some thing people dont realize is that a lot of rich men will pay to marry a woman. prenups like the one here are common, where they actually agree to pay and take care of their ex, or they agree to pay in event of cheating, increase pay if their is a pregnancy, etc. it's a whole different world than what regular people are used to. cant blame the court for this one.
