Max B is more famous and poppin now than when he was killing it in the mid 00's and that's the point
No he's not. No one plays Max B anymore.
Anyway, strong undeniable projects don't always sell respectable units. Illmatic didn't go platinum till much later.
Illmatic was praised as genius the moment it came out and had the rap world shook. It was bootlegged heavily as fukk and played in the streets. shyt wasn't ignored by a long shot. Sure it took some time to go plat but it went gold within years. It grew bigger as the day went on.
Meek's album will not grow bigger by the day goes on. It's over.
That's the most famous example but there are dozens of examples like that.
Name em. You say there are dozens. Shouldn't be hard to provide receipts.
Meek is more relevant than Rocky musically in 2016 so you could say Rocky came and went under your metric.
based on what? Wishful thinking?
Anyway, that Cozy Boys tape aint good. Sure it's way better than DC4 but it too seems like a come-and-go kinda thing
Under what logic did Live Love Asap have staying power if Meek's 2011 work came and went?
ASAP Rocky has sons and daughters in this rap shyt. stop it.
Let time decide the cultural relevance of things.
I agree, and that's the best approach. Just calling this one early. Trash releases come-and-go 99% of the time.
You're always talking about how Kendrick is fake praise from Critics, but under your metric of decent sales and critical acclaim, Kendrick is actually a legend.
that would be true. The problem is that Kendrick's acclaim isn't credible. So basically he has no acclaim. Different times, different climate.
There are no credible rap critics in the mainstream-semi mainstream. There haven't been for at least a decade.
