There was all this build-up.... the few Meek stans (pretend and otherwise) swore it'd bring Meek back. and now, it's just a thread on The Coli. Which won't be active for much longer. A forced re-up may happen now and then, but shyt is DOA.

What went wrong? Is it just the fact that Meek is complete trash and always has been? Or perhaps he was never good to begin with? Just a boy model for the 'street' crowd who care more about looks/positioning/image than your average tween.

I don't think that something "came and went" objectively. A lot of great music doesn't even get the buzz it deserves in its time. A lot of people have died and had their music become legendary, look at classical composers who weren't famous in their time. Max B was never poppin like that in the mainstream but since he got 75 yrs Kanye named his album Waves and had him do the intro.

My point is cultural significance is not totally defined by popularity. Drake's Views is the most popular Hip Hop album in the entire 10's decade and will be probably till his next album, but is it really the most culturally significant? I'm not saying DC4 is going to have lasting impact but I'm not saying it wont. Maybe it'll be one of those things that grows maybe it wont. I'm not even a Meek fan. All I'm saying is it takes years before we can look back at something and say this was impactful and this was just a fad.
