It is breh. I know for most Americans, being without a car is a HUGE disadvantage. If your car is stolen or involved in an accident, having to wait for insurance to pay or for the police to recover your car is hell. It's more hell having to deal with a police investigation, possible trial, lawyers fees, etc which will cost you more in the long run than simply waiting for the insurance company to cut you a check or/and the police to retrieve your car.

Again, it's a very tragic situation.
