She's admitted to having mental health issues in the past, after she kept getting locked up for drugs and drinking.

Ali and Saadiq said she refused to get help for her mental issues, which is why they brought in Joi to replace Dawn in Lucy Pearl. She supposedly blew all of her bread on drugs, but then blamed Saadiq for not having like $1,000 to pay her mortgage and then said it was his fault she lost her house. Couple years after that, Dre had the same issues with her when he signed her to Aftermath and ended up dropping her for Truth Hurts. The girls in En Vogue also always said Dawn refuses to get help. Which is why they left her out of the Christmas movie they did, and told her she couldn't come to set. So it's not exactly an assumption. Everyone's she's worked with speaks on how she needs help. Homeless or not.
