If you listen to Commisioner Gordon .... Its at least 8 years after the first movie ... He says they spent 4 years fighting the virus and 4 years fighting each other....
Harry Osborne is not in this. I just hope they explain why the Great and Powerful OZ is not here.. if he's dead, etc... Maybe have a opening montage with a voiceover showing death, funeral, etc with Gollum ... Andy .... um, I mean Ceaser

Pretty sure I read during pre-production it's a given he brought it from the virus. At one point they were considering a flashback but that's as far as it got.

According to this website, the virus has killed over half of the world.

We're dead.

Even still....that would leave over 3 billion humans. I don't think there's that many apes in the world. But slim said they've spent years fighting apes & humans, so if that's another half - then that still leaves 1.5 billion humans.

The virus that made them smart spread to the humans but it kills the humans while the apes are immune to its negative affects.

Nah, it's from a Youtube channel that does LEGO game parodies. They did a The Last Of Us video and because it got over a million views they released that gif.
