I grew up in the WORST state in country Louisiana.

BOTH of my parents grew up dirt poor. My father is from a ghetto ass neighborhood and saw people blasted to pieces with shotguns as a kid. Had friends die. Etc. Guess what? My life started in that same shytty neighborhood and I saw my first death before I started elementary.

We had a lot working against us. But we ALL made something of ourselves. All of my siblings, cousins, etc. are homeowners, married and successful. My mother… I can’t say too much, but she’s one of the most successful women in this country and started at the very bottom.

What do u do when corrupt Nigerian cops come and rob you at your shop everyday?

Nigerian police only shake you down at checkpoints.

Let me tell you a story.

It’s my second time ever in Nigeria after my father died in 03’. I’m the eldest so I have to deal with all this shyt. My uncle and I have to drive from Southern Nigeria to Abuja where my pops had a crib and gather his things. On the drive there, we saw a bunch of cars on the road. We get out and ask everyone what’s going on and cats tell us it was a bunch of armed robbers further down the road. So I immediately stripped down to just a wife beater and some shorts because I wasn’t about to look like food to niqqas out there. My uncle decided that we should shack up at a nearby, dirty hotel, and leave in the morning when the robbers would be gone. We leave the next morning down that same road and police had a checkpoint set up. Don’t you know that the cops shook us down for the equivalent of about $100, threatening to take our car if we didn’t give it up? My uncle paid the shyt…. but I sat there and kept thinking to myself that “we avoided armed robbers to get robbed by the cops. yo…these muthafukka are working together!”

As we drove off I started rhyming Mos Def line from Respiration mad loud enough for them to hear me.

“No batman and robin, can’t tell between the cops & the robbers. They both partners, they all heartless, with no conscience.”

I have carried nothing but contempt for police out here that day forward. I caused a scene in the middle of a Lagos street two weeks later out of anger from that shyt, but that’s another story.

Air Peace, a Nigerian airline, was busy celebrating direct flights from Lagos to Mumbai.
