David Robinson on First Take

David Robinson was my favorite basketball player growing up.

When I was in 7th or 8th grade in the early 90s, I was in a Shop class and we all built boats out of wood.
It took a few weeks for everyone to make theirs and when it was done, we raced them in a big tank full of water.

I painted a "50" on my boat for David Robinson.





I didn't win the race though because I wasn't smart enough to make the boat lighter. It was heavy as shyt and some other kid cut holes into his boat and it blew mine away.

I believe this 100%, at the same time, there are some Blacks on here who live a different experience from other Blacks. Either they are too young, or they've have always been the token Black kid at their school who became the token Black person at their job. People like Shaq and Barkley see things through a false set of lenses because white people loved them because of their athletic prowess. That wasn't the case with Jack Johnson, Jackie Robinson and Ali. They threw Ali in jail because he wouldn't go to Vietnam. Shaq and Barkley speak from a podium of ignorance. I guess they think that the criticism of Beyonce's performance had nothing to do with race.....She was too busy being a diva and upstaging Coldplay, that's why people are upset with her...

If D-Rob had better teammates/talent around him in his prime I for sure think he gets a title

His best teammates before Tim were bad kidney Sean Elliott, Avery Johnson, JR Reid and Vinny Del Negro

People talk about Hakeem outplaying him in 95 but the Rockets were more talented across the board than that Spurs team

When he did get an elite player next to him for 2 seasons (Rodman) he won MVP and a scoring title

I pasted a magazine cutout of Admiral in response.

Though I don't think he's as high on that fictional list that ESPN created I love the fact that the Admiral is getting his props and respect for how good he was after years of being clowned for the series against Hakeem. Robinson was getting you at least 24-27 a game with 12 boards and 3 blocks a night. He was a beast on the court and I enjoyed watching him play in his prime. Good to see an articulate black man getting interviews on TV instead of them going with the average stereotype like they do.

He was 20, which is pretty high.
