In there you gotta watch out for criminals and cops. If you got some money you can roll with a large entourage for a reasonable cost. If you get them food and drinks ain't nobody touching you.

Food and drinks? Naah, they want the cash... Why do you think the patrols be setting up checkpoints late at nite? Not to only stop the motocyclist but to get some $$$.

I follow some YouTube cats that have moved to DR, and they spoke quite frankly of having some extra dough on them just in case the cops come through when they out on the street.

Not a good idea, especially if you're a foreigner taking the same routes and always walking the streets. Many on duty cops work with thieves on motobikes posing as taxi bikers ( some of them can also be off duty cops) that be posting up on the corner blocks and cops will keep setting up check points around your way to keep asking you for money. If you keep giving them money they think you're loaded with $$$ especially since you come from "the outside" ( "de a fuera" meaning you're a foreigner not a native) and bam its a wrap. The theives on motorbikes, if armed, they won't hesitate to kill you if you try to fight back. They are also good at remembering faces,if you get these envious mean mug stares, be alert of your surroundings and change routes. Trust me breh.
