Since that's what I was saying, I agree it's pretty silly to argue it. :gucci:

My point was that this is the only time that DR has been all over the national news like that, it's not a country most people know anything about. Those folk seeing these DR stories popping up on the telly one after the other ain't got any other reference point. It's not like it's Mexico or Brazil or Jamaica or Thailand or any other country that they have pop culture associations with. DR is a blank slate and a lot of them are gonna put this on it.

You go up to 100 Americans tomorrow and ask them "Tell me three things you know about DR", 90% of the ones who have any answer at all are gonna say something about people getting killed/shot there.

What do you mean pop culture association? The biggest female rapper right now is dominican who mentions it all the time on her instagram stories,
plus anybody that has been watching basebball for the last 30 years, cant know about the Dominican Republic. One of the biggest latin stars right now is also Dominican (Romeo santos) , people that dont know about the Dominican Republic havent been paying attention to mainstream media.

Not to mention all the rappers that mention the country from time to time , like Drake and Jay-z.

A cop was part of the robbery?

Wow this gets worse and worse

:picard:
Cops robbing is the norm. You are smart to second guess every police officer there instead of assuming they’re straight laced.

One time a cop SUV swerved infront of ours and like 7 of them got out with guns.

Only thing we could do in those 7 seconds before they got to our car was hurriedly and discreetly hide our phones (we never leave the house wearing valuables anyway).

Like the guns would’ve stopped them from getting em anyway but

Which countries?
Really? Damn near pick any. There's been so many civil wars and fukked up shyt after the Europeans "left" after the centuries of raping (still ongoing).

Just yesterday disgusting ass dudes ran through a village in northern Nigerian and murked out 40 normal citizens and took their shyt.
Over 500 teachers have been murdered in the past few years just in that region.

I never stated in any post that I would be visiting Nigeria. An ambassador from Sierra Leone was kidnapped in Nigeria a few years back, so that was already a country that was a no go for me. Thanks though, but I am well aware of Nigeria and the many problems that exist there, but I was not planning a visit. With that said there are a lot of historical areas in Nigeria that I would like to see at some point, but right now is not the time for a visit to some of those areas.

Where are you from? I can name 0 people off the top of my head who have ever been to DR. It's just not a thing on the west coast.

But the original goalpost is that most Americans don't know shyt about the DR. I stand by that. Most Americans still don't even own a passport. :heh:
Yet they be the most opinionated.

Nigeria for one...

What countries in West Africa do you visit?

Sierra Leone. Got Ghana coming up and I hopefully I will be able to find transport up North to Burkina Faso. Hope to hit Senegal and the Gambia next year.

Would love to see Mali within the next few years, but I would need to do more research to know the at risk places. Cameroon is another spot that I would like to hit to see the Ngoun festival, however from what I have seen it is every other year rather than every year now so I would have to know the exact year to visit. Still doing research on Central and East Africa, but I might not visit those places for several years. A Rwandan woman that I know keeps insisting that I need to go to Rwanda, so that might be my first trip into the Central/East, but I have not done enough research to go just yet.

The stuff I like to do is for historical research and to absorb the culture that was once my ancestors.

I don't think Escobar could stack enough bricks to hide from the fallout on this one. The Mayor wants his name on this case. Cops have to save face. Lil Chapo down the street wants his place. And freelance shooters all over that country want the rep. He's going to look juicy as dikk Cheney in general pop.
