It’s always been my understanding that Dave makes the ratings for the moment, and not as a historical guide. How do you define ‘stakes’ in wrestling? This match was as high stakes can get in AEW. The highest stakes WWE matches in my mind were Hogan-Savage, Hogan-Warrior, Warrior-Savage, Bret-Bulldog, those were all 5 stars in my world, WWE can’t write a story to have a match have those kind of stakes and hasn’t really since Austin-Rock

Dave rates matches on moves & his faves with different scales based on whatever bullshyt he thinks up at this point :manny:

Stakes of the match or moment don't have shyt to do with it.

We can't be in here judging match quality by the storyline unless there are deep callbacks move wise in the match ala Kings Road. Hangmayne vs Omega while good didn't have that kind of depth.

Punk/Cena
D-Bry/Orton and Batista
D/Bry/HHH
D-Bry/Kofi

All had massive stakes and that's not even including peak NXT

None of those matches were passing the torch of the company like Hogan-Warrior. It would be incredibly hard for WWE to make a match like that having two world champs anyway.

Yeah this argument here is done :mjlol:

Hangman Page took Kenny spot at the top of the company, Kofi beating Bryan didn’t change shyt but make him the B champ, mark. Kofi wasn’t even IN that match until like a couple weeks before the show. Bryan tapping out HHH opened the fukking show and never been mentioned on tv again. Tell me some more bullshyt, tho

Picture this, Christian didn’t get a 5 Star rating till this match. TLC 1 and 2 are about as perfect as you can get for a car crash spotfest and they basically modernized the ladder match as we know it, and that’s not even counting the No Mercy ladder match or the one at WM16. But nah, this match was what earned him it :mjlol:
It was good but overly long. I’ll give them points for trying to use this as a launching pad for Jungle Jack Perry, but 5*? :hhh:

Why do ya'll get so worked up by these arbitrary match ratings? :gucci:

It's one man's (dumb) opinion.

Given the gravity of the match in closing out a 3 year story, and a 1 year championship reign, Page-Omega rating is beyond debate. Full gear had sloppy finishes and shaky booking all show, but the main event was as perfect as could be. Maybe should have gotten 6.

Match was mid as fukk until the last few minutes.
