Well this is the problem with a politically polarized society. It’s not logical for every human feeling/belief to fall neatly into either dem or republican, yet that’s how our dumbass society is now set up

Since I've been a teenager to adulthood I've watched Republicans start 2 disastrous wars, screw up the economy, deny climate change AND obstruct any initiative to counter it, erode voting rights, elect a fascist, politicize a pandemic that has left over a million Americans dead, legalize bribary for politicians, overturn Roe v Wade, stage an insurrection after losing an election, threaten civil war. Its utterly breath taking how much they get away with and that there are people who STILL can't see they're the problem.

Democrats aren't perfect but so much of their ineffectiveness has been a result of deliberate Republican obstruction and bribary that Republican elected Justices legalized. Republicans create all these moral panics over trans issues and CRT to disguise their fukk ups.

The thing about Dave that is different now vs back on 2003-2006 is that now he seems to enjoy seeing people being hurt by what he says. When you lean into that, people who aren't on that wave inevitably start to drift away from you whereas people who also enjoy upsetting people with less power and influence than them will drift into your orbit.

People like Joe 'planet of the apes' Rogan and Elon Must start wanting to hang around you and rather than asking 'why do these kinds of awful people feel comfortable around me' you start feeling that everyone else is too sensitive and these guys tell it like it is and express themselves honestly. You start confusing ignorant statements made by people who value their own wealth and power more than the community around them as a whole for honest, unfettered speech. You begin to start losing your ability to tell the difference between someone who is laughing WITH people and a bully that enjoys laughing AT people.

I believe the amount of wealth Dave has made has alienated him from average people and his anger at being screwed over in show business in the past has made him a deeply angry and bitter person, and he taps into these feelings of resentment. Resentment seems to fuel him. He seems to court anger and use that anger to make himself feel justified and like his speech is being policed. After all, what other reason would they be mad at him besides him saying things that are true but they don't want to hear. That's how he reasons internally and more or less says it. You know what that sounds like? "Triggering the libs"
