I dont know how Bruce Timm did it. I remember that final episode of Superman: TAS airing in Feb 2000, and how that passed the censors, still have me baffled to this day. Darkseid is indeed among the GOAT of cosmic level beings, and left Thanos in the dust.

No way....Thanos in Infinity Gauntlet is just way more expressive. Superman beats up Darkseid too much.

Theoretically, Darkseid is the better character with much more nuance and complexity when written right. Like I said earlier, there are few writers who write the character true to the concept. Though with the Morrison retcon, you have this interesting dynamic where a lot of writers stories are cheapened because, "It is just an avatar."
Thanos is a more shallow character, but more successful in his goals (besides getting Death to stay faithful).

I don't care about an "Entity" that ain't gonna show up & throw hands. Especially when you purposely leave out the guantlet that's made him strong enough to fight & kill them.
Thanos is a physical being so in a fair one I'm also using the "physical manifestation" of Darkseid. Which got his ass beat by Superman so bad he was humbled on his knees & Supes promised not to reveal it to anyone before they parted ways.
Don't know if people count Amalgam but Darkseid pulled up on Thanos in his stance & Thanos went head up with him. It was basically a draw. Darkseid was shook when the sky bled, Thanos smiled
