I’m glad the MCU stepped in and added whatever episode 1 became but it’s still a tragedy this storyline can’t lead to a Spiderman movie ending due to the multiverse stuff

I think that was always the plan for Feige, lines like Fisk referencing Spider-Man along with what insiders were saying about the early draft for SM4 all pointed to Spider-Man 4 being a Spider-Man and DD vs Fisk Movie

I think the goal is just to exemplify how dark the tone will be for the series and how dangerous vigilantism really is. The quick and unsatisfying death feels “real”. What you described is more comicky and “produced”, and I think fans of the netflix daredevil dont wanna see that here

Marvel Studios reportedly wanted Spider-Man 4 to be a grounded street-level movie, which would have opened the door for Daredevil and Kingpin to appear, while Sony was pushing for another multiverse adventure akin to 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home.

If that was indeed the goal the problem is in the set up. Again the character should be seasoned after years of being a vigilante. Going out in public like that under the circumstances was not wise and therefore rang untrue. He was just walking down streets unprotected and exposed. There are ways you can depict what you indicated without sacrificing the integrity of the character.
