This feud is where i became a Darby fan. A bit long but this was a super well booked feud and shows a lot of occasions of Darby killing himself to make a good match.
He even had a couple of really dope matches with Zack Sabre Jr that were strictly pure wrestling. Dude can do it all.
It only bothers me because its illogical. Guys like the Young Bucks and Sammy Guevara do all tyoes of off the top rope flips and dives but none end the match but one coffin drop from a very light Darby Allin ends matches? Nah..Needs a better finisher, I like him but I hate that coffin drop shyt

His presentation doesnt bother me at all actually. Its different and ive been a big Darby supporter over the past 4 years. His look is great and his promos (when shot with artistic vision can really sell a match too) he is the underdog you want to root for. I have no problem with the Darby brand at all. I bought in way before AEW was a thought. Its just the coffin drop isnt going to work on everyone. It might be illogical in light of more complex, harder hitting finishers, but it might also be the most over finisher they've got. Darby and AEW made everyone believe that a 155 pound guy falling backwards off the top rope definitively ends matches (and always remember, arguably the most over finisher in wrestling history was a simple leg drop). That means something, and they'd be idiots to fukk with it.
It's the same for his look, weight, lack of promos, etc. He got over not in spite of all of that, but because of it, and screwing with his presentation because his little nut hugger shorts are appalling to you is Cokeboy Vince nonsense (not accusing you of anything, more of a general statement). Let Darby be the reedy little skateboarding weirdo in his wife's shorts and tights; the look and presentation is unique, his weight and frame makes his high-flying look like life or death (and I actually have more faith in his ability to do these stunts due to his skateboarding background) and is probably optimal for what he wants to do, and the people treat him like he's somebody without needing him to get better gear or bulk up or whatever.
Let Darby be for now. He's fine.

Darby works best against guys pushed as monsters. It took a top rope moonsault to beat Wardlow and Hager hasnt even been beaten yet. How will that move truly make me believe that is can slay the monsters AEW has? Keep in mind we have Archer, Cage, and Harper impending debuts too.
This move is so damn funny to meDef see him doing a Jeff Hardy stunt.
