If anybody fukked up the game, I'd say it's Cotto taking on Maravilla after Patrick Ewing donated one of his knees. After he manipulated things to make history, you can't fault Canelo for taking advantage of a prime situation. It's not right, but Canelo didn't create the current environment.

Yep, he won the belt at a 155 catchweight......so he's defending it at the same. People forget, Cotto set the 155 catchweight for the fight with Canelo and Canelo accepted and then immediately after the fight, during the in-ring interview, he said:

"I'm not afraid of any fighter. GGG is a great fighter, and he is my friend," Alvarez said. "I have respect for him, but if we do fight, it's going to be at my [natural] weight class [of 155 pounds]. I'm the champion. I don't have to do what he wants."

Canelo tops Cotto to claim middleweight title

Now, people wanna act brand new like Canelo has changed his stance from day 1:martin:

Since when is 33 damn near 40? Ward will be a few months shy of 33 if he even has a ppv in the fall. So by your logic, looks like ward will be damn near 40 for his first ppv. :francis: Your knowledge, period. :scust:

:mjlol:

Let's see how the WBC handles things after theMay 7th because they're on the tip of yanking that green strap from Canelo and handing it over to GGG.

But guess what Canelo TECHNICALLY will still have...

Ring Magazine / Lineal Title :lolbron:

According to WBA, if the Canelo fight isn't made they're gonna make GGG vs Jacobs the mandatory. Jacobs can also say "I've reigned as Regular WBA Champ long enough, it's time to move on" where then GGG can try to get Saunders' title (which is unlikely also).

I'm tellin ya'll, don't be surprised if Nelo is in w/ 49-0 again OR a Manny fight where he'd willingly suck weight for another big payday.

GGG's best course of action is if he gets the WBC belt handed to him, try to fight Saunders to completely unify. If not, wait out for Degale vs Jack winner and move up to fight one of them. :manny:

It's sad this is all a possibility. Is it really that serious that Canelo will eventually have to drop the belt and go back to fighting at 154 lbs?

This isn't the 154 of a year or two ago. It's some killers in there now.

Yet here he stands with all these accomplishments in boxing and about to clear out another division while ggg sitting around waiting for someone to throw him a bone :to:

Gennady Golovkin not ready? Lemieux and Stevens take exception to Canelo Alvarez's comment

Lemieux wants a Canelo fight and Stevens sparred with Canelo for the Khan fight, both have fought GGG and both said Canelo is wrong to say GGG doesn't deserve a fight with him.
Neither would commit to who would win between Canelo and GGG...hmmm...both have closer ties to Canelo, wonder why they couldn't pick a winner. :sas2:

on a scale of 1-fat dan how furious will you be when Canelo fights Lemieux next at 155.15? :banderas:

It isn't like GGG can control what Canelo can do. We just keep doing what we do (KO opponents). If anything it will be Canelo catching the flack from the media if he fights Lemiuex. I don't know how the majority of the fans will perceive it, but it is starting to show that the majority of boxing writers are starting to side with GGG, which means when you go looking for boxing news #CaneloCartel will read nothing but duck articles. :youngsabo:

If Canelo can get Lemiuex to fight at a catchweight, good for him. Lemiuex is rumored to be struggling to make 160, but wants that Canelo payday. If he is willing to go below then he is certainly entitled to do that.

Brehs seem to forget, despite being #GGGoodBoys, I understand boxing is a business. Canelo and GGG are negotiating through the media. I wouldn't be surprised if/when they meet it is 157-158 lbs. As fans we have no say over the business side. GB and K2 need to do their thing and negotiate. In the mean time it looks like the GGG push vs. Canelo is just starting and it seems the momentum is on our side. :myman:

Why is everything mayweather's fault :what:

A side- b side- been around before floyd even turned pro

But promoters were controlling the money. At the end of the day you fought who your promoter said you fought and they kept most of the money. Floyd was the first fighter i can remember who basically picked and chose who he fought AND had fans cosigning all of his moves as if they preferred those matches when really they were dikk eating. SRL did something similar with Hagler but iirc he actually retired then fought him when he came back. And people were on his top for that anyway. Floyd was the first fighter nikkas stanned for WORST matchups just cause the fighter had the leverage to pick weaker opponents.

I read the article:sas1:

Stevens said no such thing:sas2:

"What DID he say though?" is the question:jbhmm:

“Canelo, he’s the man, the pay-per-view superstar, and he is a junior-middleweight, not a true middleweight,” said Stevens, who will fight unbeaten Patrick Teixeira to open the pay-per-view. “Canelo makes the rules in this case. It’ll be a good fight if it happens.”

Who would Stevens pick?

“I’m a fan of both, so I’d rather just sit back and watch what happens,” Stevens said.

Sounds like Stevens is saying what me, @((ReFleX)), and @krackdagawd been repeating ad nauseum:smugbiden:
