Most of the ones lamenting will just nitpick modern day artists like redveil and not give them love

The older hip hop gives them nostalgia so they aren't even open to listening to the new dope shyt

The real problem has never been with quality. The problem has always been the quality not being advertised like the bullshyt is

Especially since social media rose to prominence. The microwaveable catchy toxic shyt is popular

There's so many dope artists out there. Most of the people who've posted in this thread don't care to look or give them the time of day
Exactly, no different than when Vanilla Ice was the "hottest thing since sliced white bread"

The flash in the pan trendy in the moment shyt has always been around but for those who bother to even dig slightly past the surface layer theres plenty of great music that comes out every week.

Plenty of underground stuff whether you're into the Alc/Griselda style or the Soundcloud style. The genre is very much alive and thriving in ways other genres wish they could...

Mainstream-wise, I don't think there's been any classics recently though. The focus right now is on tapping into new audiences (girls and gay men, gen Z and younger...) so the mainstream narrative caters to their tastes and sensibilities.

That shyt ain't "restoring the feeling", at all lol

Victory Lap became a classic after Nip death

Burden of Proof ain’t a classic…I’ll say Tana Talk 3 is a new age underground classic along with the first FlyGod
Victory Lap was one of the best albums of the 2010s before he passed away. I personally knew he had something special once he dropped the Rap nikkas music video

The song with YG, Hussle and Motivate, there arent any bad songs. More people may have acknowledged it as a classic after he passed. But it was always classic-level quality

Danny has been crafting intricate, well thought out albums since the mixtape days. That's pretty rare today for newer artists. There are dope albums from a variety of new rappers today that just feel like a collection of good-great tracks, instead of an ALBUM. There is no real beginning, middle, and end for a lot of stuff. Doesn't make them bad projects obviously, there are dope songs. Just no cohesion.

Ultimately a lot of guys are still crafting albums too. Tyler prob did it best in the last couple years, when it comes to mainstream rappers-under-35. Vince still out here and dropped an amazing album last year. Earl is still great. And on the underground level, Billy Woods is making amazing albums.

There's so many more. This is only for you. Alot of the complainers in here will see the list and look for flaws with every artist. Instead of just appreciating what the artists bring to modern hip hop. Innovation, lyricism, musicality, artistry, flows, style, cadences, everything. They won't listen to it with the same ear they did back in the day. When they listened to the music of the "good ol days"

I have a thread showcasing the dope newer shyt that comes out every week

Very few of the older posters with gripes go in the thread. But they make threads like this to have the same "hip hop isn't the same" discussion with each other all the time. Seems like the threads get made twice a week at this point

It is what it is

the whole "it hits harder in a nostalgia factor" is bullshyt too

I wasnt alive when Marvin Gaye or The Beatles existed... yet I can still go back to those albums and witness how classic the recordings and songwriting is

if we are being real... people who were weak features on old songs... are even better than alot of leaders of this time period
the problem is you dont have actual artists with an actual point of existing or foundation behind them
alot of nikkas are just rapping about nothing for no particular reason. I'm not too fond of Drake, Jcole or Kendrick but at least they have their own lane and style. Most of these dudes people named are just average people rapping for money and not because they love to actually do it

He can speak on it and I respect his opinion on it. Folks was criticizing his style (and still are), but he dropped two near classics in XXX and Atrocity Exhibition.

"rest in peace wack nikkas with oversized clothes/complain about my jeans cause I'm taking all they hooooooeeez :blessed:
