Gallinari will be treated as a two-year contract in any negotiations since there’s no way he’s declining that player option coming off a torn ACL. However, his salary ($6.5 million) opens up the door for some bigger deals since Boston could take back 125 percent of that salary. Throw in a couple players making minimum money with Gallinari in a deal and Boston could land a big man making $10 million or more. Using Gallinari in a trade also allows the team more flexibility to pursue other upgrades while keeping their core intact. Don’t look for any deal like this soon, (the team wants to see their own internal options first) but any major trade that comes up during the season could definitely including Gallinari as salary filler.

Boston Celtics Mailbag: Carmelo Anthony, Blake Griffin odds, Danilo Gallinari trade possibility, can Noah Vonleh help?
Didn't know it was possible to even trade his contract this season
Also sounds like they aren’t signing Melo or any vet and are gonna give Hauser a shot
And we still don’t have a reliable backup wing. The depth of this is team is worrying. We’ve got a great top 8 but outside of that is extremely unimpressive. We can’t expect to make Finals runs while using short rotations all season
we’re either getting Grant at the 5 or Kornet minutes
Hassan Whiteside as well I believe or they try and convince Tristan Thompson to come out of retirement.Basically only vet centers left are Dwight & Boogie

Thesis gon make a 4th return book itI’ll pass on a Tristan reunion but Stevens seems to love bringing back exiled players so
I’d choose Whiteside out of those four options maybe
