Was gonna wait until we got closer to the draft but the coaching search made me decide to accelerate things.

The most frustrating season of the last 15-20 years is over. Ainge is gone, the boy wonder is in his place and now we're looking for a new coach, and hopefully it's one that isn't coaching with one foot out the door :ehh:

Despite the frustrating season there was some good: Jayson Tatum & Jaylen Brown both continued their gradual improvement and had career years, Time Lord finally got a chance to start and shined when he was healthy, the rookies Nesmith & Pritchard both look like rotational pieces going forward, and Romeo Langford even showed signs of life in the playoffs.

Heading into the offseason, this is the current roster situation
Guaranteed Contracts: Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, Tristan Thompson, Romeo Langford, Robert Williams, Aaron Nesmith, Grant Williams, Payton Pritchard, Carsen Edwards
Non-guaranteed: Jabari Parker
Unrestricted FA: Evan Fournier, Luke Kornet
Restricted FA: Tacko Fall, Tremont Waters, Semi Ojeleye
Draft Picks: 16, 45

Safe to say, Stevens & Mike Zarren got a lot of work to do to get this roster ready to compete at a high level :francis:

Would we be opposed to KG having some coaching role? He would def give the team a lift with his passion for Boston.

Call me crazy, but I'm not interested in a Female head coach

Leave that novelty for a lottery team

Celtics are in a do or die situation, we can't take any chances this offseason

At this stage, this team needs a former player who will command respect the moment he arrives. Cassell or Billips fit the bill.

And if the new coach won't utilize Tacko Fall, then just cut him. Don't waste his time.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hammon or Lawson end up in Orlando

I'll be the first to admit...I haven't a clue how qualified for the role we need filled any coaching candidates are.

Everyone's on the 'we need a former player' tip all of a sudden. I know ti seems like they tuned Brad out this year, but its hard for me to know what they actually need since their locker room is air tight and even with all this drama the past few years, its been very few little things that have slipped out.

I'm much more concerned with Brad and Zarren and the decisions they make with personnel.

My player wish list is Lonzo Ball, Kristaps and Marcus Robinson and shipping Kemba, Tristan and Fournier out.

Team seemed disengaged and flat in a big chunk of the games they played this season, and with Stevens admitting that he had been burnt out from coaching since the bubble, I think it's easy to put two and two together. I said all season that he was lacking passion and the team's body language was reflective of that.

Now, I don't think it absolutely has to be a former player, but me personally I'm not really interested at all in a retread coach that hasn't been able to get the job done at multiple locations like a Clifford, Stotts or D'Antoni. It just so happens that the top first time coaching prospects seem to be all former players :manny:

I have concerns with Brad having the most control of the roster too, especially due to his rotations. I mean shyt, look how long it took him to realize that Pritchard was better than Teague or that Time Lord was the best center on the team. Plus coaches running front offices in recent years has been a disaster. But at this point the decision has been made, it's clear that they had to move on from Ainge, and we can only hope for the best.

I like Chauncey and Cassel cuz they were savvy players who understand the nuances of championship basketball, "the game within the game". Udoka seems intriguing cuz he played and coached under Popavich, and also coached with D'antoni this year which is good from an offensive perspective. Maybe he can use Pop's system with little wrinkles from D'antoni. I don't trust Stevens to make the right choice, but maybe he'll surprise me.
