I agree with this sentiment. We have to be for us first, and the policies we push for need to be through a lense of how they affect us first and how they affect everyone else being a secondary concern. Too many of our people are choosing a side like it is a team sport, when the truth of the matter is that those at the top have more incommon with each other than they have with us.

Pay attention to what gets through without effort, and what seems to require "theartrics" around it, but is never really resolved. One example, notice how easy it is for Congress to vote yes on getting aid to a foreign nation, but so difficult for Congress to vote yes on getting aid to those people who suffered from the hurricaine in North Carolina. How hard it is to alleviate the suffering of people here in the US, but we always have treasure & weapons to hand off to some foreign ally. We don't have the money for domestic issues, but we always have money for foreign policies and bailing out large banks.

We wonder why the Democrats are continuously weak in the face of opposition? Why they feel they need to follow every little letter of parlimentary rules while the Republicans can and will bulldoze over them? We need to ask ourselves some deep probing questions why and do some actual research that is not only through the lense of one sides propaganda. Perhaps once we do that, we can then move towards focusing on what we need that is best for us, instead of always being confused and angry about why things do not turn out the way we hope them to when depending on one political party's consideration of our issues.

We only been voting since the mid/late 1960s that's literally our parents lives if you are a millennial/gen x.
