Like someone pointed out, it ain't like American actors have that 1960s Chicago accent either, ALL actors use a fake accent for their roles. That's why is "acting", it's always fake.

Did anyone have this energy when Forrest Whitaker played Idi Amin or when Daniel Day-Lewis played Abraham Lincoln? When Denzel Washington played a British soldier or, hell, when Sidney Poitier started in multiple major CRM roles including as a young black man from Chicago?

I wasn’t convinced at all from the commercials. He don’t look like Fred and doesn’t convey the passion and charisma of Fred. Not to mention you gotta have the Chicago accent down pat if you’re playing Fred. Too important of a figure to drop the ball on this shyt.

If you are not from that country, you intrinsically would not understand the culture that surrounds the plight of a certain community. I would be pissed if an actor needed a Summer reading list and an accent coach to be caught up to speed on such a culturally important person

If you look to actors for your takes them you already lost. No one is going to start carrying movies with hyper-militant/woke actors only, not would it somehow make the movie any better.
