In Daniel's defense (I wanted an ADOS actor at first, but I thought he did a good job in the movie), some brothers and sisters in the 60's & 70's (like Chairman Fred) had a certain rhythm in their speech that has sadly been lost over time. When cats spoke, you could hear the soul in their words.
Exhibit A:
Young people today are cut from a different cloth and don't have the same soul that our old heads had. It would probably be very difficult for any actor younger than 40 to accurately portray the way a true soul brother or soul sister would've spoken.
:manny:

:mjlol:

I can go down to Avenue I and find a 25 year old that talks similar to that right now

Hollywood don’t give a fukk they only care about the box office draw

Yeah but we ain't talking bout Hollywood. We talking bout us and how our greats are being misrepresented. I don't care if this movie breaks box office records. Its an insult to the legacy of Fred Hampton that this dude was allowed to play him.

You're exaggerating breh :russ:
No he’s not- the shyt Fukkin sucked. It’s distracting as shyt to hear him talk and it’s disrespecting to have an actor not in tune with the times, historical events who does not have the background to play a black AMERICAN militant leader . That type of warrior spirit is literally in the DNA of AAs - both mentally, emotionally, scientifically and spiritually; there’s an which is the Brits are NEVER convincing and lack that authenticity behind the portrayal; the reason why these movies never get the momentum that they would had it been an AA lead. Acting requires a certain background to be able to pull this off- the reasons why Harriet failed, and this is getting lukewarm reception; While on the flip movies like Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X are iconic status (played by black Americans). Just like Zoe Saldana playing Nina Simone was a failure. So you fukkkin Brits can get ya head out ya ass bc you’re not going to force your actors into AA historical legendary figures since you lack the platform to comprehend. Shyt- when was the last time an AA played the role of a prominent black UK leader? Yeah. Thought so. Besides that, I’m sick of seeing this damn Daniel’s face in every movie production- is he the only one that y’all have or something??
:dahell::mjtf:
I could think of tons of black AA actors that could have hit this out the park. Or maybe pick out an actor from Chicago or the Midwest.

Derek Luke
Leon Robinson
Michael Jai White

Not a very good movie brehs. Fails to hit you on an emotional level. Everyone is focused on the actors but the weakest link was the story and plot.

The best part of the movie was the intro where they rolled documentary footage of Hampton and The Panthers which tells me i would enjoy the Fred Hampton & Panthers documentaries.

6.5 out of 10
And therein lies the problem. People heavily underestimate the emotional connection - that can never be translated if the actors are not AA from which to have an emotional position to relate; this is history not a damn superhero movie. I’ll use my time to watch actual Fred Hampton documentaries not a British actor thinking that he can represent him. Disrespectful as shyt - which is why I don’t give it any views. If anyone other than Idris Elba played their UK civil rights leader - Darcus Howe; these Brits would have a riot, so I’m not trying to hear it. Let Will Smith or Anthony Mackie pop up on their scene cast as a UK black dignitary With a fukked up UK accent, the internet would burn.
