He’s said one mind if questionable thing before about not being defined “black” or whatever but other than that he’s been solid.

People forget that most of these British actors are classically trained from a young age. Acting is a lifestyle for them. They put in HELLA work on stage which gives them a bit of a leg up.

Sometimes they are flat out BETTER than the american brehs and brehettes.

Clearly this is a sensitive topic. My view is that we are all black with a common enemy. This man should not be getting any hate from any black person unless he was out here living offensively. Dudes just making a living. And the American powers that be who are choosing him for their movies are doing so only because he plays the character they need him to play well. After all they’re not making movies because they have nothing better to do. They’re trying to make money on their investment. I assure you they’re not picking him because they think less of African Americans. If there was an African American who plays a specific role better than Daniel and who was willing to accept whatever compensation they’re offering I’m sure he’d get that job instead.

let’s just stop hating each other for frivolous things.
You must not be Black American or American at all. They are doing this intentionally. That is what they do. Samuel L Jackson and even the late Sicily Tyson have called this out. It’s no different than all of the other ways they have misrepresented us in the past. I’m not about to argue with y’all over this you are not American/Black American so you would not understand how they operate.

Not at all because they were American movies made for Americans by Americans in America. They aren’t flying us out to Britain or Nollywood to pretend to be African, they are hiring the Africans there, even if the character is Black American, and that’s fine bc it’s their country and their movie and most like not many Black Americans there.

U dropping church on them Giselle

I hear people say the best actors are british etc

But lakeith was better than daniel in this movie to me

Which tells me the talent for black Americans are Here they just arent getting a fair shot

Rather than lack of current talent

If he is bored of talking about race, why accept a role of a Black American hero who fought for racial equality for Black Americans? Just like that African girl from Britain who bashed Black Americans and claimed we don’t have a culture. She doesn’t know Black American culture and history but plays Black Americans like our beloved Harriet Tubman in a movie that was historically inaccurate on top of that, which I’m sure she didn’t notice because she doesn’t know our ethnic group’s history.

From not being represented in our country at all, to being represented by whites wearing Black face, to finally getting representation but it’s a mammy or c00n, then it being turned to light skin only, then biracial only, to being represented by Africans who moved to Britain. Black Americans are tired and just want proper representation for ourselves in our own country, just like I’m sure you want in yours. There should be nothing wrong with that.

This deep all this true and ados should stand up

Harriet Tubman and Fred Hampton are real people, not fictional characters. Black Americans deserve to be properly represented in our country by ourselves. Not by people who are not us, do not understand us and constantly disrespect us. Much like you are doing now.

But the ADOS directors understand you and still continue to cast Black British Actors, yet you’ll direct all your vitriol to Kaluuya who is a good example of a decent black man regardless of where he’s from.

Heh he's an okay actor to me..but the potential for growth is there

nikkas criticized his accent in the new flick and y'all still defended that weak shyt
When Samuel Jackson butchered the British accent..we called him out just the same

:heh:

Another thing..foreign actors move all the way to America to further their careers
Cac or Black..they need those jobs just as bad

I said this before awhile back but criticizing British actors for playing American figures rings hollow when prominent African figures were played by American and or British actors. Forrest Whittaker won an Academy award portraying Idi Amin. Denzel before Malcolm X was Steve Biko in Cry Freedom. Idris Elba was Nelson Mandela. Leon played a Jamaican bobsledder and he's Afro-American. The right person for the job is someone who can deliver an authentic interpretation of the historical figure .
What movie was this?

iirc someone said it’s cheaper to get Brits to act plus since they are classically trained directors get more bang for their buck.

If America as whole wants to change that then we need to start putting money back into our art programs this is even showing in the music no one knows how to sing anymore or know how to play an instrument.
I always say this yet folks on here want to ignore it.

We need more classical training and more funding for the arts in our communities.
