You never fight someone at their A game. You take away their A game and implement YOUR A game.
Plus he was literally unprepared for a different fighter. If he jumped in and fought on instinct instead of following a strict game plan he would've been lit up by Silva.

If you were a wrestler who trained for a super rangy fighter with incredible takedown defense and pretty good striking, but suddenly had to face a fighter whose striking is even better and doesn't initiate but exploits gaps, you would take it to the ground too. Granted, Silva is no slouch on the ground but he was worried about DC's gnp and overall wrestling chops.

Bruh if your opponent gets switched up on two days notice, you literally don't have enough time to formulate an intricate game plan to counter your opponent's tells, tendencies, etc.

You just get in there and take away his best tools.

But just bleed tho
but stand and bang with a legendary striker tho
but he's a p*ssy tho
but he just laid and prayed tho
but he isn't a true champ tho
but he didn't pass guard tho

Daniel Cormier is the p4p no.1 performer in MMA.

And Weidman got a KO off of a Silva that was playing around and a TKO off a defensive technique that so rarely ends fights that it feels flukish. Weidman even admitted after the first fight that Silva's leg kicks made it to where he couldn't walk right for a week

You shouldn't stand with Silva....even now.
