Lots of fighters thought they could close the distance. Once they realize that's not happening, the fight becomes much more predictable (forced to shoot), in Jones' favor, imo. Also I'm not sure what hitting Jones glove/hand/forearm will do other than sap Cormier's energy. Cormier presents legit threats, but don't let the Hendo fight fool you, jones is not getting vertically suplexed or ragdolled like Hendo. I'll be the first to say I was dead wrong if Cormier blankets Jones to a decision win. Or knocks him out.

This is pretty much where I'm at on this fight.

Machida was suppose to be too unorthodox for jones
Rashad trained with him so he had the "blueprint" to beat jones
Vitor was suppose to have hands faster than a eye blink & he couldn't do it
Glover & Rampage had KO power in both hands & jones took both of them apart.

None of those guys could close the distance which is what made Gus/Jones 1 So compelling seeing that jones size & reach advantage were neutralized & gus didn't do enough to beat the champ but it was very close.

As far as cormier, he's has been asking for this fight for a while, given that he isn't even 6ft. I just don't see him closing the distance. Jones loves to prove people wrong & fight any style so It'll be interesting.

My prediction is cromier will come out agressive but jones secret weapon is that dangerous OBLIQUE kick. Cormier's knees aren't the best & those hard shots to the knees will keep cormier at a distance and jones will pick him apart.
