You don't need to be a pure point In the league. You need to be a combo guard who can shoot, play pick and roll and have solid passing and court vision ability.

Russell on this Lakers with this squad is a better team. Kuzma is the key

The thing with Russell is he struggles to get separation even with screens so its better to play him against slower SGs.

I agree, if you read the thread you'll see I thought the Lakers should have paired him with Lonzo, but Kuzma eases the blow.

So you think it was a bad move

If only the 76ers had someone to let Simmons do that :steviej:
I don't think in that regard their floor general capabilities is comparable, Ben runs the offense in the same regard Bron does (at least IMO) where he's just meant to be the main ball handler. Now having another playmaker that can create with the ball in his hands would be A1, but I believe they're saying Lonzo would be literally better off with another capable facilitator, e.g a Draymond or McCollum.

Ben has never shown to be a plus 3 pt shooter or FT shooter and his mechanics are awful too

Lonzo at least has a glimmer given his shooting at UCLA

And Ben isn't a "naturally more gifted scorer".....dude is just bigger, stronger and more athletic but his actual scoring arsenal is awful.

Ben would be ok cutting off ball but it comprised a much bigger part of Lonzo's offensive game. He needs someone to get him consistent catch + shoot 3s.

Being bigger, stronger, a more capable/powerful finisher, longer, and a more impactful presence translates to scoring impact.

Simmons is already showing the ability to get to the rim and finish over/through defenders. For all the complaint about his scoring, he looks a lot better than Ball and he's only getting better.

And Simmons doesn't even need to be a crazy cutter. He can catch alleys, he's strong as fukk and will be a rebounding nightmare, he can post up small guards with little issue (And will only get better).

Philly would laugh in Magic's face if they offered Lonzo for Simmons straight up. No GM in the league would take Lonzo over Simmons right now
