It's not African American cultures, it's lower class culture

It's due to being at the bottom of the rat race called capitalism

"White America, it's different. Maybe we have guns for protection. Maybe we have guns for hunting. The reason you have a gun, is different."

He's ignorant for saying white guys are hunting and black guys have more nefarious reasons for holding

I actually listened to the whole 40 mins, to get the full context, and that's where he went

:smh:

Whites have guns to kill Blacks. Blacks have guns to protect ourselves from everyone including Blacks.

i get what he is saying but should keep it to himself..in my town in past 4-5 years we have had every club/bar that is considered hood/hip-hop/urban whatever these geeks look at them as shut down and thats about 10 of them due to gun violence..all the incidents were black on black crime..the white boy and college spots dont deal with these same issues and have people with bangers and guns in there establishments..4 of the these shootings/stabbings happened inside the bars which is just cray..you see the black clubs all need medal detectors and extra security. its sad but it is what it is

TYRONE GA!
And just like that......his pass is gone

Never heard a negative word said about him before now, but he's thrown all that out the window. :skip:

Damn man, I fux with DP, but I can't cosign him no more after that. If he said that hip hop culture glorifies gun culture, I can't be mad at that, but to come outright with some shyt like that? Real disappointed in DP for this...

Ugh yea and white owned labels control the culture and what you see on tv and on radio NOT the artists...That simplification of a culture and genre is akin to what Dan Patrick just did...

I already addressed this.

There are plenty of rappers who don't glorify and advocate negative stereotypes.

But there's 10 to 1 ratio who would rather portray the negative, and that is on the rhyme speakers (would not call most of them artists)

Bottom line, we're all responsbile for our own actions, I could make money selling coke, but I choose not to. Those rappers could choose not to be pawns of propaganda for the labels, but they don't, they embrace and revel in it

I just listened to this clown

Really bruh? :stopitslime:

I watched Looney Tunes cartoons and saw Yosemite Sam busting his guns in a violent manner, and it wasnt to protect anyone but kill, and Yosemite Sam was white. Some how that means black people get guns to wave around, while white people just want to hunt.

Its a destructive comment that does nothing but harp on more of racial stereotypes.

And what certain rappers espouse =/= hip hop culture. It doesnt even represent mainstream hip hop music since we are in the Emo age.

There's a huge difference between the NRA and Rick Ross talking about "I got a chopper in the trunk"

A good portion of mainstream hip-hop music glorifies gun violence, it's apples and oranges. Lets be serious.

It really isn't. It's the republican party financiers that not only get rich from violent music, but also trillions of dollars in defense spending, which includes weaponry of all kind being spread world wide.

Claiming the republican/NRA love of guns is different from mainstream hiphop is disingenuous, especially since the NRA actually has engages in the act of making dangerous items widely available.

You are out of your depth if you are unaware of the right-wing fascination with violence. You have people that have specifically profited from land mines blowing up children world wide. You have people that celebrate American imperialism like Vietnam and the Philippines, the latter rarely ever discussed.

In conclusion, fukk off.

The NRA is the most influential lobbying group in this country outside of big oil and tobacco (lol, our most powerful lobbyists peddle death for you or this earth), so there was bound to be a lot of push back because of Costas' editorial.

NRA has consistently used race as a leveraging position for moral justification --- we at the NRA support the second amendment so that Americans can protect themselves and hunt, i.e white people. As a group they have always explained away our runaway homicide rates, via firearm, through race. Patrick's statement was right out of that playbook.

Its just disappointing. Outside of whatever pressure he may have felt to repeat that drivel if he would have thought about, he would have realized how insulting the statement was. For the same activity, gun possession, Patrick abstracted all other variables, and focused on race, making whites out to be noble and cerebral in their pursuits, while blacks are primitive, innate, and basically unthinking.

Patrick should be better than that. Thats some 19th century thinking.

Ok....I can see we have some right wing poster here.

Everyone one of your posts I've noticed has an anti black slant to it. Trumping up that clown Sowell says it all.
Just a heads-up, you shouldn't take that poster seriously at all. He pretends to be black but he used to post under a different name and a while ago, while still using that name, he admitted that he is really a frail-chested white boy (that thread got deleted and his profile was banned).

Under that previous name dude would make all types of remarks about black people but he made it clear that he has no idea what he's talking about. He tried to tell me that black kids perform worse in school because black male culture values "head bustin" more than education. After I brought up how tracking, teacher prejudice, and stereotype threat affects black students negatively, dude didn't even respond.

He's a certified troll, not to mention somewhat of an idiot.
