Yvette and Tone telling us to vote down ballot democrat without demanding tangibles speaks for itself. Acting like Tariq has to check in with them and not use Foundational Black American as a lineage name or have a conference looks suspect. What I do respect about Tariq is he does let the community correct him and hold him accountable especially about his projects. I see it a different way. I think Yvette always questioned Tariq’s integrity but kept quiet b/c Tone supported Tariq’s involvement. I think Tone was somewhat enamored by Tariq embracing ADOS. If you read between the lines, Tone also wanted Umar to be supportive but Umar also double down on the anti Ados narrative. Tone/Yvette both stated that they had no problem with pan-Africanism but that was not their focus. It was more of a “you can disagree with us but don’t block our movement” type of feel. They gave both Umar & Tariq the benefit of the doubt when their usual course of action is to drag people (I think they do this too often). I think that this choice was made b/c Tone respected both of them as men until he was forced to draw a line in the sand.
FYI, I never trusted Tariq. And, while I think Umar means well, he’s been in over his head for a while now. But I still like Umar.
Tariq fell for Trump's salesman charms the same way people in the deep south are under his spell.
