I am a reformed homophobe; I used to be really disgusted by gay people. Over time I came to realize that I--in so many words--didn't like gay people because I thought I was supposed to not like them.
When I came to a place in my life where I had to re-evaluate a lot of my beliefs, I realized I really, truly,
sincerely didn't care what people chose to do with their lives. I'm not interested in controlling other people, so the way I felt about how they were living their lives became inconsequential. And since I know that
I'M not gay or LGBTQ, it no longer bothers, disgusts, or surprises me to be around LGBTQ folks.
You definitely won't catch me at a Pride parade but if you gay, you gay.
Doesn't make you less of a person, and you don't deserve to be treated with anything less than respect (unless you're an a$$hole, which applies to everyone.)
