I think people are reading too much into this. Rich people use bankruptcy laws to get out of debts all the time. Given the fact that they have corporations that they own, they may be fine financially but they just want to get out from under all the debt. Hard to know anything definite unless you can look into all of their financial statements.

The wild thing is that living a lifestyle at your own means is not at all a difficult thing.
Each of you only needs one car, get an Acura or even an entry-level Mercedes-Benz, each, and just keep up the car.
They had to have been able to pool together enough money for a middle-class/upper-middle class home down-payment/insurance policy.
Take out money for bills, and outside expenses. You should be good after that.
I simply do not understand why someone would purposefully get into that much debt without a sure-fire way of making all the money back.

It's simple they was use to having a lifestyle of luxury and did not want to give it up when they made less money.

It's not a race thing though they actually made it to the upper echelon. We are talking about upper middle class status but once you find out where they live it brings it all together. That Hollywood lifestyle is no joke it can eat you alive literally and from the documents it's clear that they were trying to live a life they couldn't afford to live.

Off topic but related to celebrities after their peak fame and earning years.

I listened to a podcast about an entertainer who got a divorce and had to pay alimony when he was making BIG money.

After his income dropped years later, he told the judge he makes less so he needs the alimony payments lowered.

The judge said:

"And? Make more money"

:damn:

I believe it I'm sure these celebrities go to extraordinary lengths to maintain the lifestyle even if it cost them everything. At the same time let's not give these guys any passes like I said earlier they made it to the top bracket and well deserved might I add. But like Dre said to Kendrick, "anybody can get it the hard part is keeping it".

based on their student loan debt being for relatives, i'm thinking they were leasing and buying cars for family members.
