My comment was about Weidman/Hall. Weidman threw that telegraphed kick without any punches to set it up at all, full power right off the bat. It's way too easy to read. One of the greatest low kickers of all time was Ernesto Hoost. Good luck finding footage of him throw with low kicks so recklessly. Even a solid check which does not break one's leg can hurt like hell and potentially cost a fighter the match. Hoost admitted to starting off with softer kicks in matches, then throwing them with more power as he got his opponents timing and whatnot down. He also always set them up with punch combinations such as...



Hall must've read Ray Longo's notes. Longo is one of Weidman's coaches. He mentioned he intentionally trains students to check kicks just like that.
