Ok. The original tweet is a little more tenable…

The problem with any and all Embiid rumors is Daryl Morey isn't dealing the reigning MVP to a division rival without demanding...

Players, picks, all of it...it'd be another Utah situation where the demands increase with any and every capitulation. Then it probably ends with Embiid to OKC for Chet Holmgren, Lu Dort, and a bunch of their excess picks anyway.

.
.
.
And then it might get worse if damage-control means flipping a ridiculous package for KAT to save face.

outside of dealing their own picks, there isn't a ridiculous package to offer.

The tweet in of itself is pointless because the Sixers aren't dealing Embiid midseason, so Fournier's out and then it just comes down to a) what Quickley will command and b) the fact that nobody looks at Barrett as some prized asset.

This means there is, in fact, a ridiculous package that they can stumble into, and with James Dolan as the owner and a FO that's running out of time to bring in their promised star...you just never know.
but the Knicks have shown enough restraint to not throw that stuff into anything unless it's for a superstar like Embiid. The Knicks' goal with all of this stuff is to bludgeon you with quantity even if the quality of the picks isn't good. Add in young guys and voila! Problem is that had RJ shown anything more than what he has, you wouldn't need to throw in a bunch more picks. the P word (potential) seems like it can't be used with RJ anymore, so his youth means nothing now.

Now if you have reservations about Mitchell, be concerned about throwing in your own picks. Otherwise, it's earmarked for Embiid, Luka, or themselves.

It's true that they've shown restraint so far, but the quantity strategy is running up to its limit because everyone who used to be an asset is gearing up for an extension (or like RJ, already signed one).

Brunson's opting out after next season and very likely getting a mega contract that hits all the new luxury tax restrictions. So, the Knicks can't just sit on their hands and will have to turn those picks into a player. That way, by the time they re-sign Brunson and hit the second apron, they'll have a completed roster or only need ring-chasing minimum contracts to finish it out.

They have this trade deadline, next offseason, and the next trade deadline. Trade deadlines are tougher to maneuver around.

I don’t know if it’s true but between this and them not signing IQ be ready for a long season of rumors and “disgruntled” players.

:francis:

This whole preseason felt like there was a lack of fire and maybe we now know why.

Personally I am not against that trade but we. Don’t even know if Philly wants to move Embiid, let alone to the Knicks.
