Thought this was dropping Friday :mindblown:

I’m gonna hold off. I got a blunt at the crib waiting. Is this a tape full of Scottie Pippens?
That's what I was expecting but it's got a different vibe. It doesn't really sound like Scottie Pippens or Fetti (the song they did not this project).

Dont know why the song "bundy & sincere" beat

reminded me of this track

I know a lot of people don’t like the lack of drums but I’ve always been a fan. Gives the rappers more freedom imo
I get really tired of projects full of drumless loops. Unless it's a completely fire loop. Sometimes something is so good it stands on its own.

For the most part I do prefer drums, and even though I'm one of the biggest Alc fans on this board I've been vocal in the past about wanting some of his beats post 2010 to have louder drums on them.

I didn't even think about it with this release though. A few joints have hard snares and the ones that don't still have dope percussion.

Covert Coup and Carrollton Heist both had joints on there that hit less hard than some of the lighter joints on this.

:yeshrug:

I was expecting this honestly to be a little lighter than it was.

Plus the rapper has to be more creative as well. A trash ass rapper couldn't even hop on that type of production because there is no drums to carry them.

Good point.

I remember Gibbs saying it took him a little while to figure out how to rap on Madlib beats. He said he's got it down now but that first album had a few joints that were challenging because the light (or no) drums on some tracks made it harder to use the type of faster flow that he likes.
