How much were they running for ?

On the lowsky this .. f it really this album should be praised the same way we praise madvillainy

The retail was $50. 500 copies pressed. On Ebay I've seen it no lower than $215 and as high as $299.

Not sure if cats are just high-balling it to start things of or if people will actually end up paying those prices.

Like you said, it's a 2010s Madvillainy type project and an underground gem so it may end up being worth a lot.

Vinyl heads, how much does it cost to press up 500 copies of something? Is there a good profit margin if you're an artist and release your music on vinyl?

I know CC garners a lot of respect around here, however I don't hold it as high. Actually put this behind Rare Chandeliers. To compare it to Madvillainy for me is way off.

It's compared to Madvillainy I think more in spirit and not because it's as good.

The lack of structure. The really short "songs" with random verses and no hooks. The collage style beats. It's just a hazy and weeded out

I've never heard anyone say it's as good as Madvillainy but the comparison of the style of the project has been made before.

Rare Chandeliers is dope but it's got a much more conventional structure to it. There are actual hooks on most of the songs, for example.

It’s hard to explain
I go by feel it’s the feeling it gives you when you bump it , you can get this feeling of untapped frequencies within your body from any genre , covert coupe is one of them.

For its time it was totally left field of what everyone was doing and whenever I listen to it it reminds me of that.

(Damn for some reason my post reminded me of a lik Wayne line ..” I travel like sound dog” got me thinking currensy could of wrote. that line for him)

Yeah also it's the definitive project that set Alchemist off onto the 2nd stage of his career. People familiar with his work weren't expecting it to sound like it did.

You either caught Covert Coup or you didn't. I know a couple people that put it in their top 10 hip-hop releases post 2010, and I know others that could barely finish it and didn't get it at all.

It hit me at a specific time in my life and it made me a Spitta fan and put Alc in my personal top 5 favorite producers. It also put me onto Gibbs who is my favorite rapper of the 2010's.

Bruh I literally refreshed the page and it was sold out. It is what it is I was waiting an hour refreshing like crazy. Can't believe people bought it just to resell for higher
Yeah man I think it's almost all luck with these vinyl drops. I hate people selling it especially for so much higher too. If I had an extra I'd sell you one for a reasonable price.

Hit up @Rhyme 4 Rhyme he has an extra copy he said.

upwards of 90% for that quantity. thats strictly goods/materials not splitting of any artist revenues. vinyl is stupid good money

So they basically made 22-23k on a project they recorded in a week and released for free 8 years ago...and they could've probably pressed up 4x what they did and still could have sold it out.

:wow: but also :mjcry: because I need to find a better hustle.

It's cool man it wasn't meant to happen. I'll survive I never thought this album would ever get a physical release. I would have never opened it and framed it on the wall. It's my favorite album of all time

Im one of those people who put it in the top 10 projects after 2010 and it 100% deserves it. It’s in my top 5 actually. And Roc Marci occupies like 2 of those slots.
