FYI, that afro was achieved by blowing the curls out! I have to have my hair blown out in order to achieve that 70s look, otherwise, I have ringlets and curls

:what: I've seen plenty of women with natural afros and no need to blow dry to get that look. Some women have tighter curls or coils and the hair grows more dense that's all.

Are you saying these people had to blow dry their hair to get an afro?

A person with 3a, 3b, 3c or 4a hair texture probably does, such as this young man

But it is quite possible for a person to have natural afro and just pick it out and shape, without the use of a blow dryer.

I have no idea how to answer your question because i posted this so long ago and I refuse to go back 13 pages to see which blown out fro I was referring to.

Now, I am one of the ones with the tighter texture (multi texture 4a-c)...My afro can look different ways depending on the state of my hair. For example if it's freshly washed and not stretched, it's a shrunken fro...if I've stretched it using braids/twists/rollers, my fro will still be strunken...mind you none of this involves picking out anything. I actually think using a pick only effectively works on short natural hair. If your hair is long, you'll need a wide tooth comb to 'pick out your fro'...Now, the only time I can achieve that 70's fro, is when I blow out my hair using a blow dryer.

And to your two top pictures, do they HAVE to use a blow dryer to stretch their hair, probably not (bc they don't have long hair) but as the hair lengthens, it will be difficult if not impossible to do so w/o one.
