I wouldn’t go that far to say it sucks. In the past few years we’ve gotten insidious, the conjuring, conjuring 2, the witch, get out, it follows, and It. VOD just allows for more horror because not all studios work like Blumhouse where they want to put out a small budgeted movie in theaters. VOD lets you do that

But of course. You named very good films...but look at all the trash we got. I was just trying to say I'd be more accepting of a straight to home video horror film than say maybe a drama or action flick

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
Funny story: The first horror movie that I ever saw was Childs Play 2. I was six and was in this mom and pops gas station and there was this small video rental section. I saw CP 2 and thinking it a was a children's movie, I took it to the counter, and the two guys actually let me rent it. I bet they were on some "Haha! This kid will never look at his toys the same again. :lolbron:" shyt or just didn't give a damn. Anyway, if the former was their thinking process, they were right.

I guess that's why I'll always hold Chucky in the same regard that I do Michael, Jason, Freddy, Leatherface, and Ghostface. It's mostly (with the lone exception being Seed) a fun franchise for me, but I can understand why it's not everyones cup of tea. :yeshrug:

Fiona Douriff looks a little TOO much like her dad :merchant:

I typically don't like psych ward settings or concepts when it comes to film, but I thought this installment was pretty enjoyable for the most part.

I was a little worried they would kill off my dude Andy there for a bit. He still took a L at the end there, but at least breh is still breathing.

People love creepy dolls. And Chucky has always been vicious. The franchise also knows how to straddle the line between comedy and horror. Plus brad douriff kills it. Equation solved homie

I think Bride was where a lot of people warmed up to the series. The first 3 films tried to be legit full blown horror films for the most part, but it's hard to take a killer doll seriously past the age of 10. Bride of Chucky had fun with the concept and it's self-awareness made it a blast to watch. Plus, the dynamic between Chucky and Tiff was great.

Child's play had me shook as f as a kid, I had one of those my buddy dolls and threw him in my basement and anytime I had to go into the basement I would run as fast as possible like Georgie in IT. My sister's used to make fun of me even though I was like 5 when I saw the first one. The thing that scared me most is how fast chuckies legs moved when he ran. I feel like the child's play movies aged terribly though. I don't hold it in the same esteem as other classics

It was OK for a Child's play movie. Curse of Chucky was better though.
I did have an issue with Chucky's new power set...
being able to channel himself into a million different Chucky dolls was cool but him being able to just hop into any human being he wants after a quick mystic incantation was ass.
