Yes. MGM owns the rights to the first movie. They can do what they rave with it. Don Mancini and the original producer own the rights to everything else.
It’s similar to how the bond franchise was. Kevin McClory owned the rights to thunderball and could do what he wanted with that story. Which is why we got never say never again and almost got another remake in the late 90s.

Na, man, shyt was stupid. The whole point of Chucky’s quest was/is to find a body. That’s the chase for him.
No one gives a fukk about him in a human body. We want a mass murdering doll. The iconic voice. Not some girl taking his actions.
And out of nowhere she can fukkin walk after the possession. How stupid is that?
