debit cards curbs your spending because it's your actual money.

can't get into debt with debit card.

they give you software to shut off the card so if it gets stolen it can't be used or spending limits or block online or gas station transactions or geo fencing.

with cc, to get cash back you have to SPEND

cc is one of the reasons why cost of goods increase, that fees the merchant pays to the bank/visa/mc is going back on the cost you pay.

debit cards are the way.

One more thing that works for me... if you over spend overspend on your debit, you are dipping into your savings. If you overspend on on your credit card, you have a grace period to catch up. Worse thing to happen is you pay interest on the bill 2 months later.

That's true breh, years of ago I used to turn off overdraft protection on the debit card for this very reason. If the bill was over it would not go thru. Rather get declined than deal with an overdraft.

Keep your debit card attached to an account just for spending. My bank does that.

I'm financially insecure, don't like bills and will always prefer cash and debit cards to credit cards. I'm a simple, impoverished negro.

:mjlol:

I used to be like that breh, it's only temporary till you make more $$$ and learn the money game.

what if you have one of those credit cards that don't have a reward system? like do you close the account and open up another credit card? wouldn't that lower your credit score?

I wouldn’t generally close the account, closing older accounts also hurts your credit score. You'd be better off just opening a new card and leaving that one open. You can occasionally use the older card to make some small purchase and pay it off to keep it active.

Or you can ask the company that issued you the card to upgrade you to something that actually gives rewards. They rather keep you as a customer than let you go if you are actually using the card.

No problem breh

It’s not a bad card despite what I said and if you use Apple Pay often it can be worth it because you get 2% when you use Apple Card for Apple Pay, but I would just as soon find a more versatile CC. I will say the upside to you buying a MacBook with the Apple Card is that you could put it on a payment plan with 0% interest if that’s something that interests you, even if you don’t necessarily have to put it on a plan at 0% over X amount of time it doesn’t hurt. I bought a new iPhone at the start of the year doing that, could’ve bought it outright but I said fukk it, shyt comes out to like $20 something every month for a while :ehh:

Yes that would lower your credit score because of 2 factors:
  1. Length of credit history.
  2. Amount of credit utilization.
Just keep the old card, pay off the balance eventually and throw it in the bushes in case of emergency.

To me more cards the better for flexibility.

How long did you have to wait and How hard did you have to fight to get it back though :unimpressed:

As soon as they called, and I said they weren’t my purchases, it was back within minutes.

I was a series of purchases all done at the same time from different states.
