Usage might have been holding you back. Mine started at 1000 and I was maybe using it for a couple hundred bucks worth of purchases. Eventually that evolved to a 4500 limit and I started using it for 1k+ worth of purchases, and that got me the 5000 jump. My credit score has been fairly consistent over the last couple years so that wasn't a factor. And I have no clue why Chase finally started to play ball, they been snubbing me since the beginning.

Should I apply for Amex blue cash preferred and close my Amex Gold

I've had the Gold Card nearly 3 years, I initially got it for the reward points for groceries and restaurants in addition to the welcome promo bonus. But I'm looking as Blue Cash preferred. I spend between $8-9k a year at the grocery store. I know BCP is 6% back on groceries but only up to $6000 spent. The thing is I also have a chase freedom card and the Amazon prime Visa card. With the freedom card grocery stores usually end up being one of the quarterly categories where I get 5% back and with the Amazon card I actually have an Amazon fresh abour 10 minutes from me. So if I'm close to that $6000 limit I have other options to continue getting high cash back /points for groceries. I'm also enticed by the 6% back for streaming and 3% on gas and transit. I stream everything, I have fubo, Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, and YouTube music. And fill up my gas tank every week to week and a half, usually $45-50 per fill up. That said usually gas is one of freedoms quarterly categories and the prime card usually has a promo every year for a couple of months of 5% cash back for gas instead of the usual 2%. In terms of eating out I spent a little more that $5k eating out. I also have the custom cash card but I don't use it much, I figure I could make that my card exclusively for restaurants eating out and get 5% cash back. Also with the gold card the 3% on travel, I don't really travel enough to utilize it. I'm also not looking forward to the $250 card fee for the gold and $95 is more palatable for me.

Do any of you have a dedicated travel card? I don't travel much but when I do I would like to get at least some cash back or something from it.

What dedicated travel cards do you all use?

I never really considered one since I don't travel much. But this year I've flown three times instead of the standard one (Thanksgiving). I've gotten hotels twice this year and rental cars a few times.

The credit cards I'm using are only going to give me one percent cash back (flights, hotels, rental cars). There has to be something better than that. I won't be a consistent traveler but at least a few times a year where I can get some decent cash back.

Thanks. One would probably have to be a frequent traveler for the high annual fees they have.

Do you have one of those three?

I have the Platinum but the card pays for itself for me.

I go to Equinox so the 300 dollar credit cuts the price of the card in half basically. I also use their media streaming package of 20 dollars a month on Disney Plus/Hulu so that’s another 240. And I live in NYC and use up the (I forget because it’s monthly but like 180 to 200 dollars a year in Uber credits). It also gives me Walmart + for free (which I really only use for my mom but Walmart plus gives you Paramount Plus for free so it’s a perk). And there are other perks that I use such as the 200 dollars off annually at a hotel booked through Amex and the 200 that you can put towards inflight credits with partners that people usually just apply to United Airlines and flip to get 200 dollars in their United Bank instead (and then use it towards flights).

That’s aside from access to most lounges at airports. I’m forgetting things but the card basically pays for itself IMO.

Is this the only card you use or use multiple cards?

I switch between two Citi Bank Custom Cash cards, Amex Blue cash back card and Amazon Chase Prime visa.

One Citi Bank card for groceries (5% cash back).

The other for restaurants (5% cash back).

Chase Prime visa for Amazon prime purchases (5% cash back).

Amex Blue for everything else (1-3% cash back for anything else).

I have always had the Amazon Prime Visa because I use prime so much. I also have the Amex Gold (4% back at restaurants and grocery stores).

I used to have a Bank of America premium elite rewards card (which was my everything else card and I got multipliers because of the money they had) but I moved all my money out of Bank of America so it became pointless.

I also like all of my points going to one place so I prefer just staying with Amex.

The game going cold now!

shyt I made $600 off my Amex blue
and $100+ off amazon cash back
$100+ off chase unlimited
$200+ off Capital one savior rewards

at least I played the game
I cashed out all my rewards. I have over $1000 of them sitting between all my cards. I been thinking they'll nerf them. Especially my X1 card. When I got enough points to pay me back for that PlayStation DualSense Edge I bought I cashed out.
