Yup thats why i really dislike the "xyz got worked in sparring" shyt that fans enamored with. One guy could have been specifically working on something that day, maybe its something he isnt good at so of course they gonna get the better of him. Too many variables when it comes to sparring to use that as a gaging factor.
I feel you breh, and I'm not saying sparring is the end all be all, but I don't think it's meaningless either.

I remember hearing about Bud sparring Bradley in his early years, and he beat up on Tim so bad that they sent him home. When you're getting sent home for doing too well in sparring, I'm sorry but Ii can't just chalk that up as completely meaningless.

shyt there's been instances where 2 fighters sparred and then when they fought years later the actual fight looked damn near identical (ie Thurman vs Porter).

As for the who wins between Spence vs Bud, I'm still on the fence :patrice:

Before the accident i would say Spence but the being inactive over a year and the car accident has me wondering if he still got it. One big problem is he gets hit cleanand i seen him hurt before he didn't recover good.

This is what I came to say. If this happened 2 years ago, I got Errol easily. But the accident and then missing all this time with his eye could make him food to top guys at 147.

I think Bud breaks him. He's too fukkin strong and is probably the hardest puncher at 147. I don't think that Errol would be able to withstand that kinda assault right now.

I think Bud wins probably by a close decision maybe stops him late. Gotta see the size difference cause Spence is no big brute by any means but he’s a talented boxer who’s probably significantly bigger than Crawford. I just think Bud wouldn’t necessarily figure him out but finds a way to win more rounds, especially during championship rounds.

Kel Brook took Porter to school. After that, GGG and Errol broke opposite sides of his fukkin face and he hasn't been the same fighter.

Two things fukked up Margarito:

1. Shane caught him cheating.
2. Manny broke his eye socket.

Are we about to sit here and pretend that having that kinda damage done to your eye doesn't effect you as a fighter?

Granted, we don't know the extent of Errol's eye injury or if the surgery was successful enough for him to continue to be a top level fighter but time and history aren't in his favor.

Crawford got too much technical skill, creativity, and live DOG in him for Spence IMO. From what I've seen against Kell and Porter, he's improved from the Mean Machine fight which is scary. Nothing against Spence as he's great at what he does, very disciplined and will wear you down with his consistent, relentless educated pressure. But I see Crawford picking him off in the later rounds inside and outside.

My money would be on Crawford winning but I don't think the fight will ever happen.

I think Crawford is flat better than Spence
Elite finisher, very capable fighting out of either stance, is excellent at making adjustments, etc.
Of course the eye thing is something we will wonder about Spence forever. I do think people have come back from it before

Great post.

No hate here either, Spence my favourite fighter.

I got a referred eye injury after facial fractures earlier in the year. Right eye, same as Spence, i'm southpaw too. Not saying i'm anything in the ballpark, just can relate.

shyt isn't great. You can lose the ability to focus sharply with both eyes on objects at close range (namely targets and punches).

Spence has a top, top elite work ethic and 'get it by any means necessary' attitude, but sometimes it aint enough when the opp as talented and hard working as you, and additionally, you got some new shortcomings.

I hope i'm wrong.

i think the spence before the accident was a different level of fighter as far as hunger, seek and destroy. he also was educated and surgical with that body work and jab. afterwards, i just don't feel he'll be the same fighter. i can't necessarily say he's not the same and he did beat danny off that layoff and it was his first fight back.

but an accident of that magnitude- and dental issues, etc. he has probably recovered but i just think that will manifest at some point, i don't know if its in punch resistance or even having something to do with the eye.

i probably would have chosen spence before the accident but i think over the past 3 years, bud has grown into the weight class, is more active and really finishing opponents when he has had them hurt. i think he'd find a way to overcome this version of spence. i really wanna see how errol looks vs ugas, just see if he's regained more of his form, i just felt danny was too slow for spence and he was able to do what he needed to do to win that. but i always felt in a lot of spots, spence looked flustered by porter's movement and awkwardness and was getting hit clean by porter. i always wondered if it was bud or someone else with more power how would that have gone over.

as a fan, i just would like to see this matchup with both undefeated before it potentially get derailed with an upset or something. if spence beat ugas, lets get this popping. thats one i need to see live. vegas, dallas, l.a., miami or nyc- this is one i gotta bite the bullet to see it live in person.

We'll see what happens if Crawford gets caught with something real by Thurman or Spence..he's been fighting lesser competition. Looks fantastic against quitters like Khan..A guy who was gone for awhile in Brook..and a guy who's father turned on him out of the blue in Porter.

Alot of people in this thread are depending on that accident injuries popping up out of the blue as if Derrick James and everybody is full of shyt when they given their accessment of him in the aftermath. No surprise. He's Black. Everybody is looking to see him fail but we'll see. I think the guy is meant to win after that accident. Just won't allow himself to lose.
