Somebody tell me the difference between single cam and multi cam :jbhmm:.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but Craig Robinson was a teacher in Chicago, so they picked this to sorta parody his experience.

For the most part,Traditional-style sitcoms with laughtracks are multi-cam sitcoms. While modern-style sitcoms that don't use laughtracks are singlecam sitcoms

Yes and no.

Multi-cam means just that. Multiple cameras, so you're right, that's mostly sitcoms in front of an audience: set up a stage, place 4/5 cameras pointing at it from different angles, film all at once.

Single-cam - single camera: It's not a hard and fast rule, because sometimes they'll film with 2 or more cameras at once, but traditionally it means film a scene from one angle with one camera, move it, shoot it again etc.

And there's also a difference script wise and performance wise. You write a single cam script like a movie while there are rules and a format for writing a multi cam show. Also the performers will take pauses for the jokes in order for the laughs. And most multi cam (not all) are shot in front of a live audience.

Yeah, I know all that. I just wanted to put in the simplest terms because I didn't feel like doing a whole write-up. Plus, It's just easier to explain to folks by using those simple terms & using examples.

Sitcoms are not the right vehicle for Craig Robinson unless it's on some Arrested Development type shyt. This is a show that would have been dated 20 years ago, homie deserves better than this stale sandwich.

Or where he got his start. The office. He is perfect for shows like that. He really belongs on a show like Curb Your Enthusiasm though. Imagine him and Larry together. :wow:
