There have been quite a few grocery stores where a bulk of the workers got sick or infected. But even so you'll have to compare the mitigation measures at grocery stores versus a plant. Walmart from my experience they are not taking this seriously and I havent been there in 2 months after my last visit where no one gave a fukk. On the other hand a lot of stores have plastic sleeves in front of the register and take a lot of precautions. Target from my experience is doing a good job at this. I don't think meat packing workers are getting the same protection as target employees
Also you can bet that the reason why a bulk of new infections are people who are self reporting isolating at home is because in America the idea of isolating is still going to the grocery store and Walmart as you said. So people are definitely getting infected that way and then they are going home infecting people at home or where they decide to stop at next.
The stay at home order as a reminder wasn't meant to stop infections. It's meant to stop a surge. Our current policy does nothing to stop it just slow it down. So when folks go the store, gas station, etc they are risking and probably getting infected.
Interesting this comes out after it was uncovered that the state fired a web developer after they refuse to fudge the numbers on their covid site. Wonder if that story is making them honest, a little bit

Nursing homes and adult care centers are probably hiding shyt around the country. They know once they report, it will hurt their profits. Posted a story about my girl's mother a few pages back and also shared a story about an Adult Care facility in New York where they lied to this woman about what the situation was there saying he was fine yet he hadn't eaten in a week because the workers just abandoned the patients out of fear of catching the virus and her father was actually infected and had she not removed him that night, he would have died the next day.
We will never get an accurate number but I strongly disagree with folks who think the number is lower than reported. I think deaths are much higher because of stuff like above.
There was that one study out of either Korea or Japan where they studied the infections in a Chinese restaurant and showed that air conditioners help facilitate the spread. It basically just blows the particles around and they were actually able to track where everyone who was in the restaurant with this one person who was initially sick was sitting and show how the air conditioner help spread the virus from that one person to ten other people.
I imagine that in these big packing warehouses, they have those big HVAC units circulating air in the whole place, especially when dealing with meat since like you said they have to keep it at a lower temperature. I never been in one but I'm sure we've had some brehs on here who have worked in one who can provide more insight.

There's a virus going around which wants to reproduce and infect people. Any time people are in close proximity it does what it does. At many jobs...people are in close proximity.

I work at a VA hospital in Florida.. i see/update all our patients records who have tested/tested positive for covid 19..
let’s jus say our intranet homepage as of right now says we have less than 10 inpatient cases... less than 30 total hospital cases

Things only went downhill from there, as she then went off on a conspiratorial tirade about the disease.
“This is just made up by Bill Gates and them, and by you wearing that!” she thundered. “You’re breathing out your toxic air, you’re breathing in the same air… you’re killing your antibodies!”
An employee at the store then asked her if she believed COVID-19 was actually real.
“I believe there’s a virus but it’s not what they say!” she fumed. “They have 98, 99 percent cure! So what kind of virus is that, we’ve all had viruses! We all get colds, you’re being lied to!”
