After watching the NOVA episode on this and when they talked about the modeling with sever mitigation, light mitigation (This is what I think we are doing now), and no mitigation, I'm willing to accept at this point for the US its a futile effort trying to contain this. We are too fragmented and polarized to ever have the type of national response to get out in front of this.

Also, I've said it several times, but if China is lying about ts numbers to some degree, I still wouldn't be surprised if we had some way of knowing their true number it would still be lower than the United States. In that same episode, they went over what the Chinese are doing when removing restrictions and we would never have anything that severe. They showed that all citizens in Wuhan were forced to download an app and EVERYWHERE they went they had to scan a QR code at the entrance of place to upload where they are and when they were there. Then they get a temperature check. Even before they board a bus they had to scan a QR code on the side of the bus and get a temp check by the bus driver. Of course, everyone is forced to wear a mask. If someone later tested positive, everyone who was in the same area at the same time is alerted immediately and will be denied entry to everywhere by the app when scanning the QR code and must quarantine.

We are America and would never tolerate that level of interference in our lives and so I never expect this to happen in the states. But the reality is a virus does not give a fukk about your political philosophy or style of government and will do its thing regardless.

Yep they been doing this for awhile ever since wuhan opened back up. I been watching PBS, Al Jazeera and skynews and they been talking the last month how wuhan opened back up.

But it ain't just that america wouldn't do it that way. Nor would most western countries in the world. None of the western euro countries would roll out those measures. shyt Europe is more liberal with freedoms than america and there the government fears the people. Unlike in the US its the opposite.

However America does have in its favor the greatest group of technology companies and science backed by major capitalism and a powerful government. Also the country has proven throughout history from a scientific standpoint that when it wants to accomplish something it can.

Now the issue is with leadership..that man in the white house and the cronies around him can't stay focused and aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer.

Also whats in americas favor is EVERYONE in the world eats off america. We go down everyone else goes down with us. Just think of geopolitical and economical unrest that would pop off if somehow this was the end of the US. I mean the middle east turns to a nightmare...europe is a geopolitical mess with russia near by. The economies of china and india go to shyt cause we make so much shyt in those countries which gets exported to us.

Folks don't even understand how connected everyone is in this GLOBAL economy. Do you know the only dollar that hasn't tanked in this recession is the american dollar. Which has been strong ever since WW1?

So is this shyt gonna be rosey? Nope...is it the end of the world and america? Nope...are we in for a bumpy ride? You bet!

This is as close this to mutual assured destruction that these last 2 or 3 generations have faced on this planet. Folks from the 50s and 60s know what I am talking about. Basically the whole world is impacted and if the virus takes down one big powerful country it takes down all countries. Just like if a nuclear war popped off in the 60s..."mutual assured destruction".

id presume non stop flights will prob just be max like like nyc to london type distance like under 7 hours

i just took a nonstop LA to Tokyo 11 hr flight a week and a half ago on Japan Air.

we had normal food service. people were seated 1-3 people per row of 9 seats.

when we landed in Tokyo, we were given the nasal swap test, had to fill out papers saying we will follow the mandatory 14 day quarantine upon landing.

i wore my n95 mask + a bandana the entire flight.
