I hate to say it, but good. Yes it's a slippery slope, but these platforms need to regulate their content. I'm not sorry. People are fukking stupid and will believe anything. I do think that social media has done a lot of good. There's a lot that the mainstream press just isn't going to give a lot of attention to. There is a lot of bullshyt out there though and it is swaying opinions out there for the worst. A lot of this stuff have always been out there. The difference is that 25-30 years ago you had to seek it out and get newsletters mailed to your home. If there was internet and Twitter in the 60's, a John Birch Society person would have been president already. Yes we have a first amendment, but the founding fathers, the same people who also made the electoral college because they didn't trust people, didn't foresee Twitter.
Yep, its essential that you can have a discussion and voice your opinion, arguments may get heated too, no problem. But theres a difference between conflicting opinions and sometimes maybe "extreme" view points and straight up, factual non-sense and lies. If someone comes up to me and wants to "debate" "Hey, the sky is actually red" there is no discussion. Its just false and I would tell him to gtfoh.
I doubt that buffet place opens back up anytime soon. All those buffet places I go to for lunch in NYC are going to have to switch things up. I wouldn't be surprised if they start having boxes of gloves at the door and by the buffet bays for people to handle the utensils.
Some promising news from Belgium regarding a treatment/vaccine being developed from llama antibodies....

I ain’t gonna lie, I’m probably never eating at a buffet again
