You don't have to pick a side. All I'm doing is calling out the bullshyt of the US government, because 1.) I live in the US and 2.) Just because I feel China has some responsibility as it relates to failure to close the wet market down doesn't mean I'm just going to willingly swallow a load of bullshyt to "get back at the Chinese".

You don't have to pick a side,
you can simultaneously believe China has some fault for how this initially started and also call out your government when they are spouting bullshyt.

Again, there is a simple solution to this. Show the evidence. Not speculation. Even the stuff in this article you highlight in big bold red letters is speculative language. Nothing shown. No evidence has been provided for this. Zero. Nada. Nothing.

That is the bottom line. Until then, I ain't buying the bullshyt, and I'm willing to gamble there will never be any evidence presented and this will quietly disappeared from the government line when its no longer of any use.
responsibility for what? :sas1:

The wet markets seem the more likely source based the scientific evidence, not politicians who have political reasons for why they want this narrative to persist in order to win re-election.=. The wet markets should have been closed down a long time ago but the Chinese government has stated its nearly impossible because its a huge black-market due to Chinese beliefs that there is some spiritual and health benefits to eat foods from the wet markets.

If the US wants to seriously hold China accountable and on terms that are reasonable that will most likely get sign-on from other countries, who again aren't buying our government's line, then go after china with sanctions and punishment until the wet markets are completely eradicated.

Show me the science behind this escaping from the lab or if you want to claim the more salacious theory of it being bioengineered? Until they do that, I'm not buying it.

China has no standards in a lot of shyt. Their escalators eat people there for god sake :mjlol:. Buildings built in 10 days topple over and crumble like styrofoam (If it isn't made of styrofoam literally). So the fact security was weak and safety standards were lacking is not surprising but even so this is still not proof that this either was bioengineered or escaped from the lab.

Again, all that is being asked is to show proof. Right now, only speculation has been released.

The only hard scientific evidence presented about the origins of the virus up to this point has shown this is organic like most viruses
.
The coronavirus was not engineered in a lab. Here's how we know. | Live Science

The Joint Cheifs of Staff for the Pentagon said as recently as yesterday that evidence shows anything but this being man made or escaping from a lab
Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman says evidence suggests coronavirus was not man-made or released from lab

This is the problem by the way with having a guy in office who has no credibility anymore and lies almost every day. At least when previous administrations lied, they had some credibility in other ways or didn't insult our intelligence to such a degree that we knew from the get-go they were lying. No one believes the US anymore, at least to the extent they did before. Lying is so much the norm that is the default expectation now.

Part of the science of that argument is circumstantial inference. And bad inference at that. That's not hard science.
"If scientists had deliberately engineered this virus, they wouldn't have chosen mutations that computer models suggest won't work."

Is questionable.

That might (in some scenarios) make some sense if they were working forwards blindly. But not if not blind and not if they were working from another direction i.e. not forward possibility research but rather from a combinational angle. Editing in "properties" (sections) from other targeted well-known viruses. They may have set out to try and combine X + Y from the start.

By assuming scientists worked within entirely predictable cookie-cutter schematics we are discounting intuition, leaps of invention and privileged information. In addition there exists in-situ "whys" that are part and parcel of science but which are not reliably discernible without additional information.

Many discoveries in science were due to a confluence of science plus hard to predict inspirational or incidental even sometimes, whimsy.

Then they speak about the similarity to Pangolins. word on these scientist streets says that the critical difference between Bat "Covid19 relative" and Human "Covid19" is not on the Pangolin "Covid19 relative" genome at all.

I haven't seen this claim from multiple sources yet though so :patrice:.

Read the text. I do not see much in the way of hard science.

EDIT: @Tyrant (just in case) I am guessing that people know that I am not a Trumpist.

You have no evidence for this.

See?

China would rather blame zoonotic transmission than their own fukk ups at a lab the USA was calling out 5 years ago.

@Tyrant governments lie.

OK.

Thats established.

Now, why are you believing the Chinese one?

Mind you. The USA hasn't said they're saying it DID come from the lab. They're saying they're nowhere near close to ruling it out.

You keep wanting black and white answers. We're in the gray zone right now. Learn to appreciate and live with nuance. Its maturity.

I think the majority of the problem is some people wont be able to afford to not work for 12-18 more months

also like I said there’s no proof quarantining is a better plan. Some think it’s worse to stay inside all day

You don't think that Australia and NZ have done better than the USA (a mess) and Sweden (lax) - so far?

Basically this is cross collaboration on risky viruses gone wrong.

I shared articles on this pages ago and I cant find it but yes, the USA and China were working on this shyt to study SARS (for good reasons) and Chinese labs with shytty protocols accidentally got sick and it spread from there.

That's the direction I am heading in. Genome inserts gone wrong.

It's not conclusive (yet) but hopefully involved parties will be pressured to explain events from their side soon.

Alright you got me. There is no HARD evidence of the wet market, only a hypothesis. Hasn't been proven without a doubt yet. But if you asked most scientists involved in researching the virus they are more likely to speculate it being a zoonotic transmission and state they have seen no evidence it escaped a lab or, the bigger extreme that it was created in a lab.

On the hypothesis that the virus emerged at the Wuhan live animal market from an interaction between an animal and a human, Turner says: “I don’t think it’s conclusive by any means.”

“Part of the problem is that the information is only as good as the surveillance,” he says, adding that viruses of this type are circulating all the time in the animal kingdom.

The fact that the virus has infected a tiger in a New York zoo shows how viruses can move around between species, he says. “Understanding the breadth of species this virus can infect is important as it helps us narrow down down where it might have come from.”

The fact that the wet markets were origins for previous viruses and this virus shows easy back and forth transmission between humans and animals doesn't convince me why I need to believe that this virus originated in a more distinct way than any other virus before it.

Extradordinary claims required extraordinary evidence, or in this case, just some evidence at all. So we can go back and forth but it boils down to what you choose to believe at this moment. RIght now, I'm not believing the government line. I put more faith in the skepticism of scientists when they are presented with the theory it escaped from a lab. While they concede not knowing its origin, they seem very adamant that the lab escapee is less likely.

This pandemic is opening their system to a vulnerability they're uncomfortable with. If us common people weren't so shortsighted we would see this and apply pressure.

Fortunately the elites have plenty of us commoners fighting their fight for them.

This is a once in a 1,000 year chance to use leverage and wrestle some back from the elites. We could refuse to work until they met our needs. Institute UBI, UHC, better retirement age, better work hours, vacation, minimum wage, etc.

But we're in a hurry to "get back to your plantation boss and works haarrd for you boss".

I know, sad:francis:

We're talking about origin. Not transmission.

Until 2019, this STRAIN of the virus was not seen being transmitted.

What are you arguing about?
