I took 2 research classes in grad school. It's not just one study. There's pages of lit reviews, cohort studies, and randomized control trials that examine the effects of vitamin C in every academic database.

People in academia related to those pharmacology and biochemistry published those studies, so a lot of them do take it seriously.

And why are you posting a link to an article about Vitamin D when I'm talking about Vitamin C? Is that what they taught you in grad school?

It depends on what you consider the baseline and whether you define maximum as an idealized theoretical maximum or not.

Analogous (but not entirely 1-1) example.

Does pushing weights boost your strength? Does it boost your theoretical maximum strength?

semantics beloved

and doesnt drinking green juice contribute to a good diet?

so what are y’all talking about?

Definitely contributes to a good diet but doesn’t help immunity any more than say a slice of whole wheat bread or a piece of fish.
Not trying to be an ass here or anything just have a real pet peeve of the number of scammers pushing innocent turmeric ginger smoothies all the way up to highly expensive “miracle” supplements that make immunology claims that all have zero basis in science.

Aight let’s just say drinking juice is the way I get my share of fruits and vegetables

which contributes to a healthy diet

which in turn benefits my immune system

I really don’t see how y’all proving me wrong

and I seriously doubt there’s as much health benefits in a slice of whole wheat bread as there is in one of them juices I posted

The Toronto Caribbean Carnival is being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The festival’s board of directors says that “the priority must be the health and safety of our patrons … and there is no choice but to cancel this year’s festival.”

The festival, formerly known as Caribana, has been held for 52 years. The events planned for this July and August included the Junior King and Queen Show, Junior Parade, Adult King and Queen Show, Pan Alive and the grand finale, the Grand Parade.

The festival board said “the mass crowds that attend the events present a tremendous risk regarding the spread of the virus.”

Some doctors are moving away from ventilators to treat coronavirus patients. The reason: Unusually high death rates.

As health officials around the world push to get more ventilators to treat coronavirus patients, some doctors are moving away from using the breathing machines when they can.

The reason: Some hospitals have reported unusually high death rates for coronavirus patients on ventilators, and some doctors worry that the machines could be harming certain patients.

The evolving treatments highlight the fact that doctors are still learning the best way to manage a virus that emerged only months ago. They are relying on anecdotal, real-time data amid a crush of patients and shortages of basic supplies.
