I guess… car repair does happen but outside of that it seems futile seein as how insurance is there for these reasons, it’s why deductibles be 500.00…. they even got car repair insurance now….

but it’s great you guys had that put aside and could take
that hurdle and keep it movin
Yea. Coincidentally, most of our large emergencies are car or home repair repairs. On the flip side, once we get above a certain amount it gives us freedom to do some things that may not have been in the budget. Maybe take a small trip or buy something strictly for entertainment purposes. We just try not to let our balance get below a certain number.

Could’ve had a real thread if you bumped the amount to $10k.

Not really realistic. Regular people don't have 10k emergencies like that. You'd have to be a business owner, or maybe have a house that went through some kind of major natural disaster (and insurance is supposed to cover that anyway)

im far from rich/wealthy...but im good at saving

im single now, no kids, condo, 2 cars, 1 car payment and a 2k emergency expense wouldnt bother me at all

back when i was married, had 2 jobs, and she worked as well, a 200$ emergency expense would've affected me

crazy how life works out sometimes :blessed:

No problem. shyt I could go ten times that amount without breaking a sweat.

Doesn't mean I'd be happy though. For example, I have to spend around $2500 in the next five days on my car. I need a fresh set of tyres, I need to get a registration check and a service, and then I need to renew registration and insurance. Might even be $3000 to do all that.

Just because I easily have the savings to pay that without missing a beat, it never means that I'm happy about it or that I want to do it. I'd be so much happier with that money in my pocket instead

main thing I've made a priority in the past 18 months has been having a sizable emergency fund. Needed 4 new tires, puppy had to go the vet, Turo whip got into an accident, etc etc. All those could've been a "crisis" but were only an "inconvenience" because of an emergency fund.

I'd say, at worst you should keep a credit card with a decent limit in case of emergency
