Could Winter Soldier be the best superhero movie ever made?

It's one of the best definitely but I wouldn't call it the best. I still say that title belongs to the dark knight

i can understand why people would argue against it though, from the angle that heath is the star and the reason for the acclaim.

maybe would make for a good spin off thread, list movies where the villain is the best part of it

For all the acclaim G.O.T.G got, it really was just an ok movie, I think it got a boost from the low expectations, tried rewatch in it the other day and it was just eh. WinterSoldier on the other hand and the first Cap movie who I think is vastly underrated got mad replay value.

it took some time for the dust to settle but i believe it may be. here's why.

all the other great superhero movies, while great, have huge gaping flaws.


superman the movie - campy lex luthor and the WOAT ending.

batman 89 - very shallow, not really a tight plot, not enough emphasis on bruce.

spiderman 2 - tobey maguire

iron man - movie turns to complete shyt in the 3rd act.

dark knight - boring outside of heath ledger.

avengers - boring 1st act, meddling 2nd act, ridiculous plot, evil hawkeye.


these are all HUGE stains on these movies that prevent them from being truly flawless and consistently great from top to bottom.

now tell me this, what's the WORST thing you can say about winter soldier? it drags for 10-15 minutes? it has a wonky subplot revolving around the winter soldier? that the black widow face disguise thingy was ridiculous? in the grand scheme of things these are very minor flaws because for the rest of the running time it is pretty much clicking on every cylinder. this is a very well written, very well directed, engaging, suspenseful, and action packed film that truly puts you in awe of its hero.

overall it's very hard to argue that this isn't the best movie in the genre out of the dc and marvel entries.

Word? Nah. He played Dent perfectly and he was nice and vicious as Two Face. The only issue I have with it is the time they gave him in the role but that's not his fault
