I was rewatching some episodes today and I started thinking if there is any chance this show could ever be made in today’s Me Too climate? :heh:

The show was a male fantasy and It was a so popular at the time that even Obama was admitted big fan.

There is no way Ari’s character could ever exist on such a large platform, let alone have the president of the U.S admitting to being a fan.

It’s crazy how things have changed in a few years.

Sure it can. It the same way you could make a show about the rat pack. If it is a take on a certain time in history you could just show how people acted then. Same way with mad men and that shyt had black face. Now if you mean could you have the same story lines in 2020s then no because we dont act that way anymore and it would not make sense.

Ironically the last two or three seasons of the show were heavily written by a female writer so it would probably be closer to that. But it's not like they really crossed that many lines, from what I remember all the encounters with females were always consensual (even with Turtle).

There would be a lot of thinkpieces about how the show fostered "toxic masculinity" but I'm pretty sure you can find articles about that from feminist websites in the late 2000s.
